Congresswoman Ross Announces Nearly $20 Million for Raleigh Transit from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) announced the allocation of $19,327,928 in new federal funding under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to improve transit in Raleigh. The legislation, which was championed by Congresswoman Ross, delivers more than $176 million for transit in North Carolina, giving bus and rail riders better service while creating jobs and growing U.S. manufacturing.

"People across North Carolina rely on public transit to get to work, get to school, visit loved ones, and run to the pharmacy or grocery store," said Congresswoman Ross. "I fought to get the bipartisan infrastructure bill across the finish line because I knew how much it would help Wake County improve our bus and rail systems, address much-needed repairs, modernize our fleets with new vehicles, and transition to new technologies to help us fight the climate crisis. I'm thrilled by this funding announcement and look forward to announcing even more initiatives that this legislation is going to deliver to North Carolina and the whole country."

In addition to the new allocation increases released today, this funding will create more good-paying manufacturing jobs, in addition to the 7,300 manufacturing jobs already created in North Carolina under President Biden, through Buy America requirements that apply to steel, iron, and other materials necessary for transit projects.
